1995-12-1 The high sensitivity and element specificity of ICP-MS has been instrumental in the development of methods for the analysis of long lived radionuclides including Uranium and Radium. Traditional sample preparation was used and the resulting preconcentrated sample was analyzed quantitatively using ICP-MS equipped with an Ultrasonic nebulizer.
Read MoreSo Radium and Uranium concentrations in soils are normally determined by putting a small quantity of the soil into solution by a pyrosulfate or NaOH fusion, and then separating the uranium and thorium by extraction chromatography and counting. This is time consuming and expensive.
Read MoreUranium content in soil samples of Muktsar and Ferozepur ranged from 1.14 to 1.90 mg/kg(-1) and 1.26 to 2.44 mg/kg(-1) respectively. Radium concentration in these soil samples has been found to vary from 3.97 to 15.94 bq/kg(-1) and 7.24 to 24.14 bq/kg(-1) for Muktsar and Ferozepur respectively.
